Finally an away win!!!

Isn’t it amazing and surprising at the same time. This has been the kind of start that United have made that we United fans have been made to wait 9 games before their team has recorded an away win in the premier league.

Honestly, when I saw the starting line up, I was surprised to see O’Shea’s name on the team sheet. I thought O’Shea would be playing in the midfield and Chicharito on the wing. But it was a 4-4-2 formation with Evra playing at left midifield position. Gary Neville made his 600th appearance for the club. Read Further

What does Rooney U-Turn mean?

Looks like we won buddy!!!

So Rooney has signed a 5-year deal with Manchester United. Isn’t it surprising? For a player who thought that the current team is not good enough of challenging for titles and the club has lost the desire to win trophies, suddenly the club has shown that desire and the team is good enough as well. Personally I do not think that 1 year without a major trophy is a failure of any sort and if the team was so close to winning the title last year with almost the entire defense out for a mjor part, we are good enough this year as well but then, thats my opinion and I am not Wayne Rooney. And we’re back…

This is the first time I actually watched a Community Shield game. Can you believe that? For all these years that I have loved Manchester United so much, I have watched them play in Community Shield for the first time. And wasn’t it great. No it wasn’t. It was just awesome…

I was really surprised to see Carrick starting the game. I thought he was injured and will not be available till 1 or 2 games into the season. But I was so wrong. And then Vidic with Evans in defense. It was good to see John O’Shea back. I like the utility man. He does so much for us in so many positions. Park was playing alongside Carrick and Scholes with Valencia on the other side. Rooney started alongside Owen – a partnership that I always have my doubts with and the first half rightfully proved it. Owen look out of sorts with his game. Rooney looked at his lethal best. Park looked as if he was not fully match fit. For me the best players of the first half were Valencia and Scholes – in fact they were the best players for the entire game. Read Further

Do we need more signings?

If you are a Manchester United fan, you cannot escape the talk surrounding the Glazers. Since the last season ended, where we finished 2nd, there have been talks about big name signings and we have been linked with almost every talented player on the planet.

Fergie has said that there is no value in the market. Fans’ interpretation of this statement is that Glazers are not giving him any money to spend.

But do we really need any more signings? Read Further

Berbatov and Fulham performance

It always gives me a surprise to see Berbatov’s name in the starting line up along with Rooney. Reason being that we are playing beautiful football with a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3 whichever way you want to look at it and if Rooney plays in that formation, there is no place for Berbatov in the starting line up.

And the game against Fulham was another of those surprises where Berbatov started. We won the game 3-0 in the end but the game wasn’t as comfortable as the scoreline says it. Its not that we were not controlling the game but its that we had to wait pretty long to be sure of the 3 points. Read Further

Hate midweek fixtures

I hate midweek matches. Why? coz they make me wake up at midnight to watch the match. I slept at 2130, woke up at 100, watched the game till 330 and went to sleep. Then woke up at 600 to get ready for office. Weird sleeping schedule I must say and as my wife says ‘Just to watch a bloody game’. My wife is a fan of Manchester United but not a die hard fan like me and the way United were performing till the new year made her lose interest in United games and therefore she is never able to understand my obsession with weird sleeping schedule just to watch a game. It was a first and the best

Games featuring Manchester United and Arsenal are always a joy to watch no matter what the position and condition of both teams is. Manchester United haven’t won at Emirates Stadium since Arsenal moved to their new stadium. Considering the form of Arsenal team, many pundits were not considering a United win and definitely not an easy win. I for one considered this to be a good opportunity for Manchester United to make a statement that we haven’t lost sight of our title and are right in the race. But did I think it would be such a performance by United against Arsenal at their home ground? No but was it a joy to watch? Definitely yes.

Ecstatic over United win but still sad

Carling Cup never really mattered to me as a Manchester United fan and I am sure it doesn’t matter that much to other United fans as well. But it did this time around. Why? Because it was Manchester City who we were playing. Its not that I really want United to win this Cup, but its that I didn’t want Manchester City to win this cup or even have a chance at it.

The build up to the game was full of Carlos Tevez and his antics. I really don’t want to go there since he doesn’t deserve that attention. Before the game Ferguson called for fans to be United as Manchester United will need every fan of theirs to be with them in this time when the club is surrounded by financial trouble. And weren’t the fans with the club. The noise, the atmosphere. The good thing is that Old Trafford is not a closed stadium with a roof, otherwise the roof would have been ripped apart with the noise caused by Rooney’s winner. Read Further

The men who performed but didn’t make headlines

Manchester United had a chance to go top over the weekend and they took it beautifully with Wayne Rooney scoring 4 goals. But in my opinion the talking point of the game was not Rooney’s performance (we always expect that out of him), it was performance of few other men on the pitch that is worth mentioning.

One being Rio Ferdinand who returned on to the pitch in this game after being out injured for so long. And before that lay off, there were talks of him being no longer a good defender and out of his league due to his age. There were no signs of that age or those weaknesses in this game except for 1 instance where I felt he didn’t do enough to help Van Der Sar but the incident was closer to the corner flag than the goal. Other than that he had a very good game and provided a lot of solidity to the defence which was missing for so long. Read Further
