I have not read the comics and therefore could not relate to them. I am sure how close the movie was from the comic but reading about the comic at Wikipedia gives a view that it was very close. If that was the case all the credit to the team for doing so. I have barely seen any comic books being made into a movie without modifying any of the storyline.

As for the movie, the first thing that I didn’t like was the length of the movie. It was way too long. If I would have luved the storyline, the length wouldn’t have mattered (as is the case with The Patriot) but not here. It probably should have been two movies – one showing the history of all the Watchmen and why they stopped doing what they used to do and one showing the events that happened in this movie i.e. the entire plot where US and USSR decide to become friends.

As far as the story is considered, it became predictable after some time. Initially you tend to try and understand who are Watchmen. Then Rorschach tries to investigate the Comedian’s murder. It is too obvious that if someone is trying to kill Watchmen, wouldn’t the person about whom the entire world knows be attacked? And when he is attacked it kinda looks that either this guy is the villain or he is definitely assisting the villain.

The suckiest part about the movie that I found was that there was barely any action. That is probably coz of the reason that I always expect comic superheroes to provide some action.

But if the movie is exactly what the comic is, then there is barely anything wrong with the movie. I didn’t like the story and the story belongs to the comic not the movie. Movie was otherwise well executed.

I would rate it 2/5

Would I watch it again: No
